About Reiki

Reiki (pronounced “ray-key”) is a laying-on of hands natural healing technique thought to be thousands of years old.  Originating as a Tibetan Buddhist practice, it was rediscovered in the late 1800’s by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist. It is very simple yet powerful healing art that can be used on your self as well as others and can easily be learned by anyone.  Practitioners channel universal life force in a particular pattern to bring forth healing and harmony.

The word Reiki is derived from two Japanese words - “rei,” meaning “Universal Spirit,” and “ki,“ meaning “life force energy.” The word Reiki, therefore, refers to a balanced cosmic and life force energy.  Because of its qualities of universal energy, it seems to have a basic consciousness which, when used for healing, is able to provide exactly what is needed on all levels. Reiki treatments work by dissolving or eliminating toxic energy and substances from many levels of ones being whether it be physical, emotional, mental or beyond. Reiki helps to create a harmonious environment within ones being so true healing can take place.

Anyone can use Reiki to strengthen well-being, and it can be especially useful for people with pain, anxiety, insomnia, depression, fatigue syndromes or other chronic illness, or those undergoing surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, or treatment for addictions.

Reiki at Healing Arts Connection

Reiki at Healing Arts Connection is taught by Marsha Craven, LMT, RMT, CCHt,  a 5th generation Usui Master Teacher who teaches Usui Reiki as she was taught it by Beth Gray, who was taught by Mrs. Takata, who is responsible for bringing Reiki to the United States.

At the Reiki III/Master level, Marsha does bring in additional symbols commonly accredited to Sai Baba.

Marsha has her own unique teaching style and is very patient and down to earth with her students.  She consistently receives the highest of marks from those who are new to energy work as well as advanced practitioners and  teachers who take her classes.

All participants receive a comprehensive manual and a certificate at the completion of each level.

We recognize the tremendous value Reiki brings to the world and are pleased to be able to offer Reiki for very reasonable fees.

Reiki II — New information and sacred symbols are presented and practiced.  There is an emphasis on healing energy for the mental and emotional levels of one's being, often the true cause of dis-ease. The First degree energy is enhanced and amplified at least four times.

Reiki II builds on Reiki I as a safe, gentle healing practice that provides rapid stress reduction and a sense of well being to recipients.  Additional information, attunements and symbols are imparted.  Discussion includes using Reiki to support those experiencing pain, anxiety, insomnia, depression, fatigue syndromes or other chronic illness, or those undergoing surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, or treatment for addictions.  Participants discover and practice long distance applications of Reiki.  Hands on practice provides more opportunities to build skills using Reiki as an integrative therapy.

Participants practice sending Reiki energy over a distance.  Basic instruction in working with animals is provided.

 Reiki

Reiki brings people a tool to support body, mind, and spirit, regardless of health status.  Reiki is completely safe and complements traditional and  alternative healthcare practices to create an optimum healing environment.  Reiki can be done in person or from a distance and can be used with humans, animals and plants.

Anyone can learn Reiki and can begin using it immediately in a Reiki I seminar.  Additional symbols and practice, which make Reiki healing exponentially more powerful, are provided in Reiki II and Reiki III/Master.

Reiki can help people reduce pain, anxiety and depression and improve outcomes with other therapies that they are undergoing. For example, various experimental results show reduction in pain by newly trained HIV/AIDS patients providing a compelling argument for teaching Reiki to everyone who is diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.  Its efficacy with those experiencing chronic illness, cancer and other conditions is being revealed in additional studies being conducted around the world.

The value of Reiki comes from its ability to relieve suffering and promote healing regardless of the cause. Reiki is not limited in the way it is able to heal, and results are achieved even with illnesses and conditions that aren’t usually understood or helped with regular medical treatment.

Reiki is a complement to treatment by a physician. It does not provide services in lieu of a doctor, nor is it a medical diagnostic tool. We perceive that integrative medicine that takes advantage of all parts of the care spectrum as appropriate is much more effective (and cost-effective) than allopathic treatment alone.
