MYO Functional Release introduces a
technique to release pain related tension and restore homeostasis without
causing additional pain. MYO Functional Release utilizes the
concepts of common trigger point locations, meridian pathways and
referral zones in tracing pain to distressed areas and based on prescribed patterns specific to
each muscle, gives the therapist visible structures and tactile
experiences to enhance their work.
These techniques are
especially useful for therapists offering therapeutic Deep Tissue or Sports
Massage.
Filled with hands-on practice.
Lisa
M. Boggs, LMT, RM teaches several therapeutic massage classes that include
incorporating application of the MYO Functional Release technique.
Actual comments

"I am very pleased w/ what I
learned in this class! Good style of teaching! It really helped
to have the demos @ the beginning of class and to have the teacher be able
to go from table to table & help us. I will keep the manual for
references. Great place to take classes." LMT in
chiropractic office 12.21.09
"Enjoyed all the hands-on
experience & opportunity to explore different avenues in techniques
demonstrated. Instructor provided a very comfortable, open learning
environment. I especially loved the Knee & Patella, Piriformis/Psuedosciatica
and Calf protocols. Manual provided will be used as a referral source
when practicing these techniques. I feel like a new person!! LMT in

Deep releases w/o pain - 80 minute protocol that
is very popular with clients, whether professional athlete, weekend warrior or couch potato.
Emphasis is on getting deep releases without the pain that clients
often experience in deep tissue and/or sports massage.
MYO Functional Release utilizes
common trigger point locations, meridian pathways and
referral zones in tracing to distressed areas and introduces a
technique to release the tension and restore homeostasis without
causing additional pain. Based on prescribed patterns specific to
each muscle, the therapist has a visible structure with which to
work. Includes cranial releases to help balance out client's entire system and
engage healing from the inside to continue therapeutic benefits far
beyond the session.
Note:
Participants will be exchanging a lot of therapeutic massage during
this class. It will be easier on you if you receive bodywork
and/or participate in self-care exercise prior to the class.

Trigger
Points Hand & Wrist
4 CE Hrs ~ $60 $50
(includes materials) |
|
Explore ways to address
soft tissue challenges
related to hands and wrists by working with trigger points and referral
areas to facilitate pain relief and improved functioning.
Palpation and ways of tracing pain from effect back to cause will be
explored. Specific bodywork techniques to release stressors/restrictions
in the upper extremities will be demonstrated and participants will have
opportunities to practice techniques that can be incorporated into a
variety of massage modalities.
Objectives: By the end
of the class, participants will be able to:
1. Describe Myofascial trigger points
2. Describe “referred pain” as it relates to trigger points and locate
at least one “key spot” for trigger points likely to refer pain to the
hand and/or wrist
3. Demonstrate palpation to locate trigger points…tracing pain to it’s
cause
4. Demonstrate at least one “pain to pressure” technique to release
trigger points and thereby relieve hand and/or wrist pain
5. Describe at least one option for incorporating trigger point release
into participant’s usual
massage protocol for clients experiencing hand and/or wrist pain
